Fighting for Women’s Sports: My Title IX Complaint Against NC State

I’m not your typical Republican. I’m a lifelong atheist who has supported same-sex marriage for nearly four decades. Because of that, I have no issue with trans people. If a guy experiences gender dysphoria and finds that wearing makeup and a dress helps, hey, more power to him (or her, depending on your perspective).

However, I do take issue when that same guy competes in women’s sports. My wife attended an all-women’s college, and my daughter played varsity sports in high school, so I’ve seen firsthand how hard women have fought for their place in athletics. In fact, it took a federal civil rights law—Title IX—to secure those opportunities over 50 years ago.

That’s why I filed a Title IX complaint against NC State on behalf of all female students there. (Turns out, anyone can submit a Title IX complaint on behalf of others at an educational institution.)

My complaint: “The official policy of the University allows biological male students, faculty, and staff to participate in women’s intramural and club sports if they desire. During travel for club sports, the policy dictates that biological males who identify as female be assigned to share hotel rooms or other lodging with biological females. The policy allows biological males who identify as female to use the women’s locker rooms.”

My requested remedy: “Revision of the current policy to make clear that women’s sport teams, travel lodging, and locker rooms be reserved for biological females.”

Here is NC State’s policy:

I’ll keep you posted as to what happens.
