So I finally managed to win an IES research grant …

… after serving on their review panels continuously since 2008, chairing several review panels, and submitting six previous IES grant proposals, all of which failed. And we got this one on the first round! It’s via the low-cost short duration program, and as I recall the RFA said only four grants would be awarded for FY2016. We’re also the first team from NC State to receive IES funding, so we are all very psyched.

It just goes to show you, if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again, until you burst into tears of anger and frustration every time you hear the phrase “Institute of Education Sciences“.

The PI is Trip Stallings at the Friday Institute, and Sara Weiss at the FI is Co-PI (as am I). We will be looking at North Carolina’s Read to Achieve 3rd grade reading retention program, using an RD approach.
